For components other than vitamins and minerals, the EC enforces harmonized regulations to
safeguard consumers from potential health hazards. This includes maintaining a comprehensive list of substances with known or suspected adverse health effects, whose use in food supplements is thus strictly regulated to protect public health.
Moreover, food supplements in the EU must comply with Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006, which addresses the addition of vitamins and minerals and certain other substances to foods,
